TBJ Elite Keeps Hold on First; Premier Gains Split

Wesley Chapel, FL - The Tampa Bay Juniors Hockey Club revved back up after the Christmas break with a series verse the DME Swamp Rabbits.  Both the Premier and Elite teams were in action with TBJ Premier gaining a split with the first place Swamp Rabbits and TBJ Elite sweeping DME to maintain first place in the Elite Division.
TBJ Premier would win Friday night in Daytona 4-3 but dropped the second game 6-1 at home.  TBJ Elite would sweep winning 10-5 at home and 4-2 in Daytona.  TBJ was led by Ken Malinoski's Hat trick Saturday and Mateusz Wawrckiewicz two goals Sunday.
Both teams play DME again next weekend with the Premier team playing in Daytona Friday and home Saturday and Elite playing home Saturday and in Daytona Sunday.

Game Summaries
Friday 1/4 at Daytona Ice Arena
TBJ Premier 4  DME 3

Tampa would jump to a 3-1 lead on goals from Saxon Greene, Zack Puterbaugh and Jon Heller before DME came back to tie it.  But with 6:43 to play, Brody Horoshak would score the eventual game winner as goalie Daniel Kortenhaus turned away 40 shots.

Saturday 1/5 at FHCI
TBJ Elite 10  DME 5

Malinoski would get the hat trick and Trent Gephart would add two goals as Tampa drowned the Swamp Rabbits 10-5.  Horoshak would chip in a goal and three assist with Roco Selivanov getting a goal and two assist and Parker Chadwell assisting on three.

TBJ Premier 1  DME 6
DME would avenge Friday's loss with 2 goals in the first minute of the third period to break open a tight game.  Greene would get Tampa's lone goal on the power play.

Sunday 1/6 at Daytona
TBJ Elite 4  DME 2

Tampa would win game two in an up and down contest that saw over 70 shots on net.  Wawrzkiewicz scored the first two goals to give Tampa the lead.  After DME cut it in half, Aiden Kennedy gave Tampa the two goal lead again.  DME would once again pull within one before Gephart goal gave TBJ the cushion it needed as goalie Shaun Hatton made it hold up.  Horoshak and Selivanov each contributed two assist. 

With the sweep Tampa moves seven points ahead of the Eels for first place in the Florida Division.
