Former Tampa Bay Juniors Roope Hinz Scores First NHL Goal

New York, NY - Former Tampa Bay Juniors Roope Hinz scored his first NHL goal Sunday versus the New York Islanders.  His goal was assisted by Jason Spezza who recorded his 900th career point.

Hinz, from Tampere, Finland,  played for the Tampa Bay Juniors in the 2012-13 season.  He had 20 goals and 15 assist for 35 points in 20 games.  Last season Roope scored 20 goals in the AHL and was called up to the big club but did not get in a game.  This season Hinz made the opening night roster out of camp, but then was sent back to the AHL after the first five games.  He had 11 points in 9 games there earning a chance to get called up.  

Hinz has played in 7 Games for Dallas so far this season and made his debut in The Worlds Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, Monday with TBJ Owner and Hinz coach in Tampa, Brett Strot in attendance.
