TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Bay Juniors proudly announce that former captain Gustav Pettersson has signed a professional contract with Åseda IF of the Swedish Hockey League system.
Pettersson, from Visby, Sweden, spent two impactful seasons with the Tampa Bay Juniors, appearing in 94 games and tallying 13 goals and 23 assists. A true leader on and off the ice, Gustav wore the “A” last season, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike for his relentless work ethic and team-first mentality.
“Gustav is the ultimate team-first player,” said Head Coach Garrett Strot. “He always gives 100% on and off the ice. He embraced the role of killing penalties and loved to block shots! That really showed his commitment to winning and putting the team first.”
Reflecting on his time in Tampa, Pettersson shared his gratitude:
“I’m beyond grateful for my 2 years with the Tampa Bay Juniors. It helped me grow as a player and as a person. I’ve had the privilege to compete, learn and share the ice with amazing teammates and world-class coaches. Thanks to the entire organization for believing in me and making this chapter unforgettable! TBJ will always have a special place in my heart.”
Pettersson now returns to Sweden to begin the next chapter of his hockey journey with Åseda, bringing with him the experience, grit, and leadership he cultivated in the U.S.
Gustav is the 4th player from the 24-25 Premier team to sign Professionally in Europe.
