The Tampa Bay Juniors are proud to announce that forward Augie Ashley has committed to the University of Pittsburgh ACHA Division 1 Team for the upcoming 2025–26 season.
A native of Nova Scotia, Canada, Ashley appeared in 96 games for Tampa Bay, recording 40 goals and 70 assists for 110 points. Originally a defenseman, Ashley transitioned to forward, where he emerged as a dynamic offensive force. In 2024–25, he led the Juniors in scoring and was named a USPHL All-Star.
“Augie came to us as a defenseman but quickly realized how impactful of a forward he was,” said Tampa Bay Juniors head coach Garrett Strot. “As a full-time forward this season, he led our team in points and was named a USPHL All-Star. Pitt is getting not only a terrific, skilled player but a quality individual.”
Ashley credits the Tampa Bay Juniors program—and coaches Garrett and Brett Strot—with playing a central role in both his personal and athletic development.
“The last two years with TBJ have been the most transformative of my life,” Ashley said. “Brett and Garrett run a unique program that prioritizes mental development while still focusing on making our technical skills better. The most valuable thing they’ve helped me with is encouraging me to stay mentally positive in all situations, which is something I now apply not only in hockey, but also in school and other areas of my life. The bond within the two groups I was a part of here was the strongest I’ve ever experienced in terms of camaraderie and inclusion, both on and off the ice. I’ve made close friends and lasting connections, and I’ve created memories I’ll never forget.”
At the University of Pittsburgh, Ashley will join a program competing in the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) a premier conference within ACHA Division I.
The Tampa Bay Juniors organization congratulates Augie Ashley on his commitment to the University of Pittsburgh and thanks him for his dedication, leadership, and contributions over the past two seasons. We wish him continued success both on and off the ice as he begins this next chapter of his hockey career.
