Elite: TBJ 7, Florida Jr Blades 1

Three goals in the first and second period helped the Tampa Bay Juniors Elite team cruise to a 7-1

season-opening win against the Florida Jr Blades. Noah Williams got the scoring going just 2:09 into the

first period. Zach Hendle and Jake Duhaime both netted their first TBJ goals in the first.

Son of Coach Filip Kuba, defenseman Filip Kuba scored 47 seconds into the second period to give the

Juniors a 4-0 lead. TBJ killed off a 5-minute major power play after Noah Williams was ejected for hitting

from behind. The Juniors took a 6-goal lead into the 2

nd

intermission thanks to Jake Duhaime’s second

goal and a power play goal from Ryan Bahula.

Colton Attisano scored the Blades first goal of the season 5:57 into the third period. Bryson Uhrig

restored the Juniors’ 6-goal lead 12:03 into the third. Evan Spinella saved 20/21 shots for his first win of

the season.

Premier: TBJ 7, Florida Jr Blades 1

The Tampa Bay Juniors Premier team scored 4 first period goals to secure a season-opening win against

the Florida Jr Blades. Stanley Lucas broke the ice just 37 seconds into the season. The Juniors poured it

on in the opening 20 with goals from Connor Reed, Max Barrington, and Stanley Lucas for the second

time.

Keegan Johnson scored his first goal of the season, 2:44 into the second, to give the Juniors a 5-0 lead.

Cameron Croteau scored the Blades’ lone goal 6:04 into the third. Aaron Frenkel put the game on ice

with two goals in the third period, including a short-handed goal. Cade Kujawski made 15 saves on 16

shots to earn his first win of the season. Stanley Lucas and Aaron Frenkel both finished the night with 4

points. Roco Selivanov and Jack Anderson both collected 2 assists.

Saturday

Elite: TBJ 7, Florida Eels 2

A Ryan Bahula hat-trick boosted the Tampa Bay Juniors Elite to a 7-2 win against the Florida Eels. Bryson

Uhrig and Bahula both scored their second goals of the season to give the Juniors a 2-0 lead within the

first 11 minutes. Jordan Campo and Justin Walker both found the back of the net to give TBJ a

comfortable 4-0 first period lead.

The Eels pulled starting goalie Anthony Pelletier, in favor of backup Andrew VanOoteghem. The Eels got a

goal back just 26 second into the second to make it 4-1. TBJ regained a 4-goal lead with a Nevada

Woodring tally 2:15 into the third. Ryan Bahula scored at 9:20 and 13:16 of the third to complete his hat-

trick. The Eels scored a consolation goal 16:09 into the third.

Ethan Leigh stopped 27 of 29 shots in his first Juniors’ start. TBJ got multi-point games from Justin Walker

(1 G, 2 A), Tyler Cullen (2 A), Adam Custable (2 A), Ryan Bahula (3 G), and Noah Williams (2 A). The

Juniors are the only team in the Florida division to start the season 2-0-0.

Premier: TBJ 5, Florida Eels 3

Four third period goals helped the Tampa Bay Juniors Premier team defeat the Florida Eels 5-3. The

Florida Eels opened the scoring 8:12 into the first period. Stanley Lucas, with help from Aaron Frenkel,

scored his 3

rd

goal of the season to even the game at 1 after 20 minutes. The Eels scored the lone goal of

the second period on the power play just 23 seconds in.

Trailing for the first time in the season, the Juniors came back resurgent in the third period. Roco

Selivanov tied the game at two 40 seconds into the third. Jack Anderson gave the Juniors their first lead

of the game 4:27 into the third on the power play. Derek Walker was assessed a 5-minute high sticking

penalty at 10:31 of the period. During the 5-minute kill, Keegan Johnson scored a short-handed goal to

give the Juniors a 4-2 lead. The Eels answered just a minute and eight seconds later to trim the TBJ lead.

Britt Courneya secured the Juniors’ win with an empty net goal with 33 seconds left.

In the third period, the Juniors scored an even strength, power play, short-handed, and empty net goal.

Cade Kujawski stopped 19 of 22 shots faced for his second win of the season. Jack Anderson, Aaron

Frenkel, Keegan Johnson, and Stanley Lucas all finished with multi-point games. TBJ stands alone in first

place after the first weekend of the season.
